The Ocean Decade serves as a vital platform to align and enhance international collaboration in ocean science. It focuses on integrating scientific knowledge into policy and society to conserve and sustainably use the ocean.

This year, UNESCO and Spain convene a major Ocean Decade Conference in Barcelona from April 10-12 to promote networking, dialogue, and the setting of joint priorities for future ocean sustainability actions. This is a key milestone in the preparation of the high-level UN Ocean Conference in Nice (France) in 2025.
